WHO WE ARE

We are students from West Virginia University's Reed College of Media who have noticed the barriers that prevent formerly justice-involved women from being able to find a financially stable job. We believe that employing these women will reduce the risk of them returning to the lifestyle that led them to incarceration.

The jobs women tend to apply for typically discriminate more against those with criminal backgrounds.  Not only that, but there is 20 percent reduction in returning to criminal activity if they are employed soon after their release. The importance of getting formerly justice-involved women back to work is clear. Not only does it benefit the individual by creating a more stable lifestyle and keep them out of incarceration, but it has economic benefits for the community and businesses as well.
